Honorary Research Fellow Membership

PURPOSE AND STANDING

The Honorary Research Fellow designation represents the highest level of honorary affiliation within the Bangladesh Research Society. It is conferred to recognize individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary ability, sustained scholarly excellence, and internationally recognized impact in research, innovation, and knowledge advancement. This designation is intended to distinguish individuals whose work has materially influenced academic understanding, public policy, or applied practice at national or international levels.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Eligibility is restricted to scholars who meet all of the following standards:

Demonstrated record of original and influential scholarly contributions supported by peer reviewed publications, nationally significant research reports, or comparable high impact outputs.
Evidence of international recognition, such as citations, adoption of research findings, invited expert roles, or leadership in globally relevant research initiatives.
Proven intellectual leadership through theory development, methodological innovation, or translation of research into policy or practice.
Contributions that extend beyond routine professional duties and reflect exceptional distinction within the field.

NOMINATION PROCESS

The Honorary Research Fellow position is not open to self-application or public enrollment. Candidates are identified and nominated through internal or external professional recognition channels, based on documented evidence of merit. Nominations must be supported by verifiable records of achievement and impact.

EVALUATION AND SELECTION

All nominations undergo a rigorous internal evaluation conducted by senior members of the Society’s scientific committee. The review process assesses:

Originality and significance of the nominee’s work
Depth and consistency of scholarly impact
Relevance of contributions to national and international research priorities
Professional reputation and standing among recognized experts

Only nominees who meet the Society’s highest evaluative standards are approved. The number of Honorary Research Fellows is strictly limited to preserve the prestige and selectivity of the designation.

FEES AND FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS

The Honorary Research Fellow designation carries no application fees, membership dues, or financial requirements. Appointment is conferred exclusively as an honorary distinction and is not contingent upon payment, sponsorship, or participation in fee-based programs.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Honorary Research Fellows are expected to:

Provide intellectual and strategic guidance on research priorities
Contribute to policy relevant scientific discussions
Support the Society’s mission through thought leadership and advisory input
Represent the Society in national and international academic and professional forums
